I just got my new GTX 1054 and have only cut the grass 3 times. The tractor is working perfectly and I'm very happy with my purchase. It does a great job on our 4 acre lot.
I took the cutting deck off for the first time and it wasn't as easy as I had hoped. After removing the belt guard and belt from around the tractors electric PTO clutch I noticed a spring hanging from the PTO clutch and I can't figure out where it came from. The spring doesn't appear in the manual. Any information regarding this spring would be appreciated.

I've owned this mower for about a year now. I personally love the sound of the engine and it certainly isn't lacking any power. I've had ZERO problems with this mower and I'd buy another one just like it if I had a larger garage to keep it in.
At low idle speeds, the deck does shake a bit when you engage the PTO, that's why there is a lever to increase the engine speed.
I wish it had a brighter headlamp system and brake lights would be kinda neat, considering the price of the mower and how cheap lights are, but that's not really an issue. If the armrest were a little bigger, that would be kinda nice too. Other than that I can't find anything wrong with mine... well except that it's not a 2154LE.

Bought mower because of previous ownership of 42 inch mower, got mower home , Hated excessive engine noise (Kohler V-twin 26,) Excessive to point of pain in hydrostat foot pedal, Transmission Whine terrible. Engaged 54 inch deck, thought it was going to fly all to pieces. Warranty service dealer told me of transmission problems with this mower, belt problems, excessive valve lifter noise in this engine. Upon his advise took mower back and got recommended 1050 KH. Now this is a Cub Cadet Mower!!! Man what a ride and quiet and superior cut. Very happy now, STAY AWAY FROM THE 1054 KH MOWER!!!!!!!

I took delivery of my GTX1054 in April of 2011. I had done alot of research prior to purchase comparing it with Deere and other similar models and brands. None compared item for item with the features of this lawn tractor. I cut 2.8 acres of lawn and I am very happy with this unit. The Kohler twin is exactly what I wanted. It runs and performs exactly as it should and as promised. This will be the last lawn tractor I will need.

I bought my gtx 1054vt in 2010, i had planned on buying the 1050, but there was a sale so i got a bigger model. I read reviews on both john deer and cub cadet before buying, and i found an equal amount of good and bad reviews for john deer, but probably 15 good to 1 bad for cub cadet. after i purchased my garden tractor, i realized why the cub cadet go so many reviews. Its a great machine. Im writing this review because i noticed a bad review on here, stating that the battery is not big enough for the tractor, i have had no problem at all with starting! also the review stated that the deck or drive belt has come off several times, I also have NOT had any problem with this at all. my neighbor has a yard bigger than mine, and a smaller mower, and since i have gotten my tractor, he has used mine to mow the rest of 2010 summer season, and i mow my aunts lawn also, and i have had absolutely no problems at all with my cub cadet, and will definately purchase from them again

I am very disappointed in the quality of this machine. I have owned Cub Cadet mowers for over 18 years, and this is by far the worst tractor so far. I have had trouble with the lift cables on the deck 3 times so far. The drive belt has come off the pulley once. The deck belt is a nightmare to put on because I had to remove the deck to put the drive belt back on. The battery is to small for the engine. When it runs for a while, it barely turns over the engine. I have only had this mower for 3 months.
