I have owned this tractor for 4 years. If the rest of the tractor was built like the deck and rear end this would be an awesome tractor. Unfortunately it is not. I have replaced the oil drain with pipe because it kept leaking, the foot pedals broke through the metal holder which I had to fix (no I am not hard on equipment, very poor design), repaired the dash because the lags and bolts vibrated out even after checking them on each oil change, after engaging the deck if I shut the deck off for some reason then try to turn it back on it won't without getting off the tractor and pulling the tension arm off of a bolt head, I have replaced both the choke and throttle cables because the design has them laying across the heat shields sharp edge which I have changed with a bracket. The rear fender tub broke where the seat bolts, I weigh around 200 pounds, shouldn't happen. I gave it a 2 because the deck and rear end are great. Thank goodness that I have a mechanical background because this would have cost a fortune. I have owned two cubs, a zero turn and this tractor and I will not own another one, going with simplicity.

I own a GT-2554 for almost 3yrs. It is a good product. The only problem is the hinge on the hood. It breaks about every year. If that was changed it would be a great product.

This mower is absolutely awesome. It mowes EVERYTHING and leaves no grass standing. It maneuvers VERY well & has cut my mowing time in half (5 acres). There are a couple of things I wish were different. Like headlights that remain on all the time(I had to install a switch) and a LARGER fuel tank for this size mower would have been a BIG plus. I don't like the placement of the BRAKE PEDAL...I think it would be better if it were on the left side. The many grease fitting on the mower & cutting deck will make this tractor last forever (if I can find them all)

I have owned this tractor for almost 5 years and have almost 700 hours on it. I use this tractor for mowing, plowing, all around yard maintenance.I bought a second set of rims and installed agriculture tires and use this tractor like a large tractor ,I leave the original set of tires with chains on them and only use them when plowing snow.I have pulled small trees and bushes out with this I made a trailer hitch for the rear that fits into the frame slots and can move my 17' Fiberglass Center console boat around the yard .I have pulled my 5x8' trailer full of wood . I installed a switch to turn off head lamps .
I have used and abused this tractor there have been some failures only because of my abuse ,seat bracket broke, wheels getting broken off the mower deck, frame breaking where the pedals attach to the frame, broken front hood from smashing it into overgrown brush to cut it up,I have broken or bent 3 mower spindles 5-6 sets of blades .I have found that the high lift blades cut the best .If you plan on beating this tractor like I have I would suggest you get a welder You will need it. it would be nice to have a thicker frame and body to reduce cracking .
I would with out hesitation buy another cub-cadet next 1 will have a bucket and back hoe and mower.

I use this as my year round tractor for grass cutting in the summer and plowing snow in the winter. I have the 23 horse engine. This tractor moves heavy wet snow like breeze. It's got a ton of torque to the wheels. If I did not know I was plowing with a tractor I would swear was using a Jeep (or larger vehicle). I love the cast iron serviceable transmission. I like John Deere products as well but, when you compare money spent against the job the machine can do... I would put this up against a Deere any time. That is the measure of value!
If it was smart, the Deere would run from the Cub!!

I've owned this tractor for less than (1) year, but I have relatively little in the way of complaints. My lawn mowing used to take the better part of 5 hours, and this baby reduced that to less than 4 hours. I have yet to really get it to labor in any way, even hauling close to 800 lbs. of rock - UP HILL (and not a gentle slope, mind you). My only complaints are that there is no way to turn off the lights (come on as soon as you turn the key) and the fact that the brake pedal is on the same side as the hydro pedals. This tractor ROCKS!
